Nur wenige Flaschen! Foto beispielhaft! Der Mezcal Vago Cuixe von Aquilino Garcia Lopez hat ein Aroma von gerösteter Banane und Aceton. Er hat einen mineralischen und Kiefernnadel-Körper mit einem trockenen, rauchigen Abgang. Die maguey cuishe ist eine dünne Sorte, die sehr schlanke pinas und blumige Aromen hat, die in dem Mezcal glänzen. Vago Mezcals sind im Allgemeinen ein Grund zur Freude und dieser ist keine Ausnahme.

Mezcal Vago begann, als Mitbegründer Judah Kuper ein Krankenhaus in Oaxaca, Mexiko, besuchte. Er verliebte sich in die Krankenschwester, die ihn behandelte. Ihr Vater, Aquilino Garcia, war ein Lebensmittelbauer, der auch Mezcal herstellte. Judah und Aquilino gründeten zusammen mit Judahs langjährigem Freund Dylan Sloan Mezcal Vago. Im Jahr 2013 kamen ihre ersten exportierten Flaschen in Texas an. Jeder ihrer Mezcals wird in einem traditionellen Palenque ohne Zusatzstoffe hergestellt. Die Marke pflanzt 3 Agaven für jede einzelne Agave, die sie erntet. Ihr Ziel ist es, bis 2025 die Verwendung von Wildagaven für die meisten ihrer Mezcals zu beenden.

Im Jahr 2017 begann Mezcal Vago damit, verschiedene Farbetiketten für ihre unterschiedlichen Mezcaleros zu verwenden. Emigdio Jarquin (blaues Etikett) destilliert in Kupfer mit Refrescador. Aquilino und Joel Barriga (hellbraune bzw. goldene Etiketten) destillieren in Kupfer. Tio Rey (rotes Etikett) destilliert in Tongefäßen. Alle Mezcaleros verwenden unterschiedliche Wasserquellen und machen unterschiedliche Destillationsschnitte.
